The Story all children grow up... ... except one. Peter Pan, as everyone knows, is the tale of the boy who wouldn't grow up. The tale was written by J.M. Barrie, an author known for other works such as The Little Minister (1891) and The Little White Bird (1902). His most famous work, however, was Peter Pan, which has become one of the greatest fairytale legends. Peter Pan first came to life in 1904 as a play. Seven years later, in 1911, it took on its novel form: Peter and Wendy. Since its creation in the early twentieth century, Peter Pan has taken on not only play and book form, but movie form as well. In 1924, it became a silent movie under the direction of Herbert Brenon. Its next release was in 1953, when it became a Disney classic and was released in animated form. After that came Hook in 1991, featuring Robin Williams with Steven Spielberg as director. And last year, Barrie's masterpiece was made into yet another movie, Peter Pan (2003), under the direction of P.J. Hogan. But the entertainment industry was not finished yet. Another movie was released in the winter of 2004, titled J.M. Barrie's Neverland. Starring Johnny Depp, the movie delved into Barrie's struggle to write Peter Pan. Talent also included Kate Winslet and Dustin Hoffman. Direction was under Marc Forster. |
